Maj Gen Shishir Mahajan has commanded 4th Battalion the MARATHA LIGHT INFANTRY in Jammu & Kashmir ,11 Mountain Brigade in Assam and 23 Infantry Division on the Western Front. He has served with United Nations as a Military Observer in Iran in 1989 and was Director Military Affairs at Disarmament and International Security Affairs Division, under the Ministry of External Affairs, Delhi .He has been a member of Committee of experts appointed by the Ministry of Defence to recommend measures to enhance combat capability.Presently he is Deputy Director of Centre for Advanced strategic Studies, Pune
