CASS JOURNAL (NATIONAL SECURITY NATIONAL DEVELOPMENT)

The theme for quarterly journals is ‘National Security and National Development’. Since national security and development are closely interlinked, the journal will offer expression of views by experts engaged in different fields. To illustrate, apart from the traditional external and internal dimensions, there are many other aspects which also impinge the national security. These non-traditional aspects of security could be environmental degradation, shortages in energy, food, water as also factors such as unemployment, migration, inter-state relations and many other issues. Space and Cyberspace are other two areas of great importance. Similarly innovation and indigenous production for self-reliance have immense bearing on national security. Diplomacy as well as role of media forms very important subsets of national security. In short, in today’s interconnected world almost all important developmental issues also add up to the construct of direct and indirect aspects of national security. For us in India undoubtedly, there are challenges and opportunities in our efforts to ensure National Security and National Development.
